MarketReportsOnline.com adds Q3 2012 reports for Telecommunication
industry of multiple US countries to its store. Following are the report
briefs:
Mexico Telecommunications
Report Q3 2012
With its relatively low telecoms penetration,
Mexico harbours one of the more attractive investment potential among the
countries in Latin America and this is reflected in BMI’s Telecoms Risk/Reward
Ratings for the region. While we are cautiously optimistic of Mexico’s
short-term growth story, the skewed competitive landscape in favor of
incumbents Telcel and Telmex, and the regulator’s inability to improve the
situation threaten to prevent the growth prospects from materializing. Our mobile subscriber forecast for Mexico was
downgraded after the sector unexpectedly contracted in Q411. However, we
continue to see strong growth in the prepaid dominant mobile market.
Norway
Telecommunications Report Q3 2012
The Q312 update to BMI''s Norway
Telecommunications Report contains our latest forecasts for the mobile
subscriber market and monthly blended ARPUs, as well as the fixed-line,
broadband, internet and 3G markets through to 2016. We have adjusted our mobile
subscriber forecast for Norway this quarter following slower growth in Q411 and
Q112, as detailed in operator data. However, our other forecasts remain
unchanged this quarter, as operator data have confirmed the continuation of the
underlying trends that were the key assumptions in our previous forecasts.
Colombia
Telecommunications Report Q3 2012
The Colombian telecommunications market is
growing rapidly, based on strong foundations and bolstered by good policy, and
strong economic growth. We expect Colombia to be an outperformer over our
forecast period, with the government’s Plan Vive Digital increasing broadband
penetration rapidly.
The Ministry of Communications won the 2012 Digital Leadership Award in February – a strong endorsement of the country’s ICT policy. Colombia was one of the first countries in the region to launch LTE services, and the first to auction the 2.6GHz spectrum. It was also one of the first countries globally to auction 700MHz spectrum and is planning to double the amount of assigned spectrum in the next three years.

Peru
Telecommunications Report Q3 2012
The Peru Telecommunications Q312 report contains
new and updated data, given the release of full-year 2011 data for the mobile
and fixed-line markets. The Peruvian mobile market expanded yet further in
Q411, following on from a strong Q311. It has added over 1mn subscribers in
Q311 and Q411, and BMI believes it will continue to grow strongly through 2012
and beyond. However, our growth outlook
for the market suffered a setback following the announcement that Viettel is to
delay its entrance into the Peruvian mobile market until January 2013. The
delay is largely blamed on the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MTC)’s
hold-up in approving the company’s technical plan, which will define its
coverage. Viettel is keen to expand its footprint across Latin America and Sub-
Saharan Africa and will see the delay in the launch of commercial operations in
Peru as a major setback to its expansion strategy.
Ireland
Telecommunications Report Q3 2012
While the Irish mobile market expanded this
quarter, BMI is still skeptical about the performance of the market over the
longer term. With over 120% penetration, an ailing economy and mounting
problems at incumbent eircom, the Irish telecommunications market does not have
a bright outlook in 2012. The broadband sector grew minimally, and despite our
poor expectations in Q212, expanded at a lesser rate than we originally
believed. We have, as a result, made downward revisions to forecasts for the country’s
fixed-line and broadband sectors.

fixed-line and broadband subscriber markets. It also forecasts growth in the
number of internet users and analyses specific internet usage trends. The
report contains five-year growth forecasts that chart how the country's
different telecommunications sectors are likely to develop. Our five-year
forecasts are based on the most recent available figures to be published by
Bosnia's telecoms regulator, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU)
and by the country's leading network operators. In addition to our five year
growth forecasts for the mobile, fixed-line and internet markets, we have
updated our ARPU forecasts for the mobile market.
